Petanque is a French boule sport often played outdoors on a gravel or sand court. The game involves balls, also called boules, and a small wooden ball called a gris (pig). The goal is to throw or roll your boules as close as possible to the pig while trying to prevent your opponents' boules from getting any closer.
Typically, petanque is played by two teams and players take turns throwing their boules at the pig. The team with the boules closest to the pig scores points. The game requires both precision and strategy, as players may try to hit the opponents' boules out of position or place their own boules tactically to block the path of the opponents
